Newsletter History

Our newsletters, first published in 1994 by co-founder Charlie Hall, started as single-page, monthly flyers. They grew over the years through the efforts of Charlie and subsequent editors Charlie Vervalin, Dennis and Karen Atkinson, and Char Smith into 24-page, award-winning, snail-mailed, bi-monthly publications.

For cost and other considerations, our newsletters evolved into full-color, snail-mailed, bi-monthly postcards in 2015 by Char Smith, followed by Bob Lord in 2017. Our cards were specifically designed for easy posting on refrigerators across the land.

Our postcards continued until 2020, when the global pandemic hit the world, and our twice-monthly, Event News email blast took over the duty of keeping members informed about our events. Bob Lord produced our email communication from 2017 through 2022, when Bill Leake took over.
